Friday, May 28, 2010 at 03:17PM Annika and I have both been sick this week with colds. I used to think it was terrible being sick. Now I don't even care because I'm so busy feeling bad for chubbycheeks and her never ending dribbly nose sneeze after sneeze after sneeze after cough, cough, wheeze, and then biiiiiiigggg SIGHS....
It's been a long week.
She's a toughie, though. Still mostly full of smiles all day, which I am oh so thankful for.
Yesterday in all of our sicky misery, I gave up on work for a while and attempted for the very first time ever to do Annika's hair. I'm pretty sure it's no secret that I have no idea what I'm doing with her hair. It's entirely new to me, and I have enough trouble with my own hair as it is..... And this stuff is tricky. Usually I just stick a tiny barrette in the front and call it a day. Here's the thing....her little locks are super curly right after she gets out of the tub, but those sweet baby curls turns into a soft head of slightly intimidating wild black fluff approximately 15 minutes later.... Think a fuzzy q-tip and you've got the right picture.
But I was determined. I took out the tiny hair elastics and my comb and went to work.
In hindsight, it's obvious that perhaps I should have come up with some sort of.... plan...before starting in. Or at the very least, an idea of what it was that I wanted to create.
I can see now that that might have helped.
Instead, we did things the way that they so often happen around here-- by the seat of our pants. And truthfully, I kind of like it that way.
It's not perfect. It's nothing to write home about. But, I'm learning. And we both got lots of laughs out of the process, which is really all you can ask for on a dribbly nose sneeze after sneeze after sneeze after cough, cough, wheeze, and then biiiiiiigggg SIGH sick day.

She is absolutely adorable and I think that you did a fine job on her hair - she is getting so big - can't wait to finally meet her. Give her lots of squeezes/hugs from us!!
